Mechanical Engineering


The Department of Mechanical Engineering was established in the year 2009. The Department offers B.E (Mechanical) from 2009 with a current annual intake of 60 students. The departmental intake was increased to 120 from 2011 onwards. The Department of Mechanical Engineering emphasizes the fields of Thermal Engineering, Design Engineering, Production Engineering and Computer Aided Applications so as to facilitate the evolution of skills in students to help them attain a higher degree of knowledge, global competency and excellence, for the betterment of the society.

The PG course namely M.E CAD/CAM was started in 2012.

The faculty members are highly motivated and devoted to deliver the highest quality professional education to students and to develop core competencies and research. The Department has an excellent track record of organizing various seminars, workshops, symposium and conferences in areas of emerging technology. The placement record of the department had always been impressive. The Department labs are well equipped with latest equipments, software and Hardware. E- Learning resources are provided to students through Moodle Learning Management System.

1. Constantly updating the departmental resources, faculty and other infrastructure by acquiring state of the art equipments and by imparting constant in service training to the faculty and supporting staff.

2. Providing state of the art education and training to the students.

3. Motivating students to excel by augmenting their knowledge to continuing education programme.

4. Inculcating the feeling of oneness and service to humanity, in the minds of students to serve the society better. Carrying out purposeful research.

Objectives

1. Graduates of Mechanical Engineering Programme will Practice Mechanical Engineering in the general stems of design, manufacture, service and allied engineering sectors

2. Habituate continuous learning and carry out research and development in science, engineering and technology that supports career growth Exhibit ethical code of conduct in a professional manner to solve real – time multi-disciplinary engineering projects.

3. Demonstrate managerial and leadership capabilities that supports economic development of firms as well as society.

Events


  • Mr. K. Premananthan, Managing Director, Anand Engineering Products Pvt Ltd has offered Internship opportunity with stipend for four final year Mechanical students after a meeting with our Director Dr. M.A. Maluk Mohamed. He has offered to train the four candidates with confirmed placement after the four months of training.
  • The following eight students from mechanical department got placed in IDBI bank during Campus Drive at our college: S. AJMAL KHAN, L. NARESH, R. KATHIR VEL, S. MANIYARASAN, S.K. VIJAY, P. RANJITH, M. DINESH KUMAR and M. MOHAMED IMRAN.
  • The Innovation Challenge contest is conducted among the Partner Institutes of PALS - PAN IIT Alumni Leadership Series of IIT Madras. MAMCET Mechanical Team comprising of PRABHU P, VILFRAD KISTOFER F., V.P.ANANDAN, M.N.MOHAMAD SHANAWAZ and the civil team comprising of M.SHAHABUDEEN, P.KIRUTHIGA, N.VENKATESAN & R.SUNIL SUNDHAR along with our Director, Dr. M.A. MALUK MOHAMED are showcasing their projects which are the best of PALS at IIT Madras.

Achievements


  • Ten of our students from MAMCET and M.A.M. School of Architecture under the leadership of Mr. Murugesan, AP/Mech, MAMCET performed cultural events in Pongal Celebration of the employees and family members of Dalmia Cements Bharat Ltd. Dalmiapuram on January 11, 2017. Our Hearty Congrats to them.
  • One-day Workshop for Mechanical Students on "The Rudiments of Automobiles & Contemporary Features" was organized in our Institution on 12-01-2017. The main theme of the session was to provide the students with basics of automobile Industry.The session was handled by Mr. T. Venkatesh, Director, The Fifth Wheel Drive, Automobile & HRD group. We congratulate all the students and faculties who actively took part in the event.
  • Mr.Prakash and our final year students have attended “CREATIVE ENGINEERING DESIGN” program at IIT MADRAS on 19.08.2016
  • Mr.Anandhan has pa rticipated the Pauls Program at IIT Madras.
  • Mr.A.Mohan kumar, Mr.J.Jaya kumar have attended the Mahindra Research Valley program at Chennai.
  • Mr. P.Sathya ramanujam and our final year students have atattended the “MATERIAL PROPERTIES WITHOUT MATERIAL TESTING” Program at IIT MADRAS on 07.09.2016
  • Mr.Prabhakar has attended the Project Expo at IIT Madras
  • Mr.K.Vijayan and Mr.R.Murugesan have attended the Industrial visit at Saint Gobain at Chennai.
  • C.Sasidharan, Mr.Prabhakar and Mr.Anandhan have participated a program at Wheels India,Chennai.
  • Bhaskaran has attended FDP at SasthraUniversity.
