Sexual Harassment  – Mechanism 

As per section IV AICTE (Gender Sensitization, prevention and Prohibition of Sexual

Harassment of women employees and students and the redressal of grievances in Technical

Institutions) regulation 2016, committee consisting of the following members was constituted. It plays a crucial role in ensuring a safe and respectful environment for all students and staff. The objective of this committee is to create a campus culture that promotes dignity, respect, and gender equality.

 

Roles and Responsibilities of the Anti Sexual Harassment Committee:

  • Implement and enforce the institution’s policy on preventing and addressing sexual harassment.
  • Conduct awareness programs and workshops to educate students, faculty, and staff about what constitutes sexual harassment, its various forms, and the consequences.
  • Create a mechanism for confidentially receiving complaints related to sexual harassment.
  • Follow a structured and unbiased inquiry process, ensuring due process for both the complainant and the respondent.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential records of all complaints, investigations, and actions taken by the committee.

Procedure/Mechanism for Lodging Complaint

As per the guidelines of the Act, the committee has formulated the following mechanism for lodging the complaints:- 

  1. Submission of Written Complaint:
    • The aggrieved person is required to submit a written complaint to the Prevention of Sexual Harassment of Women, Women Cell, and Legal Awareness Committee.
    • The complaint should be submitted within three months from the date of the incident.
  2. Assistance for Complaint Submission:
    • In cases where the complaint cannot be made in writing, the Chairperson or any committee member will provide reasonable assistance to the person to facilitate the submission of the complaint in writing.
    • Alternatively, the complainant can email the complaint to the college email address:  grievance@mamcet.com.
  3. Investigation Process:
    • The committee members thoroughly investigate the cases brought to their attention.
    • They take appropriate action based on the cases, considering any necessary documents or proof provided.
  4. Assurance of Grievance Resolution:
    • The committee ensures that the grievance has been properly addressed and redressed within the stipulated time limit.
    • Adequate measures are taken to rectify the situation and prevent further occurrences.
