The Internal Committee with the following composition is constituted for conducting workshops and awareness programmes for the officers, functionaries, faculty and students to sensitize them against sexual harassment and Redressal of Grievances as per Govt. guidelines.

 Roles and Responsibilities :
  • Implement and enforce the institution’s policy on preventing and addressing sexual harassment.
  • Conduct awareness programs and workshops to educate students, faculty, and staff about what constitutes sexual harassment, its various forms, and the consequences.
  • Create a mechanism for confidentially receiving complaints related to sexual harassment.
  • Follow a structured and unbiased inquiry process, ensuring due process for both the complainant and the respondent.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential records of all complaints, investigations, and actions taken by the committee.
Procedure/Mechanism for Lodging Complaint As per the guidelines of the Act, the committee has formulated the following mechanism for lodging the complaints:-
  1. Submission of Written Complaint:
    • The aggrieved person is required to submit a written complaint to the Prevention of Sexual Harassment of Women, Women Cell, and Legal Awareness Committee.
    • The complaint should be submitted within three months from the date of the incident.
  2. Assistance for Complaint Submission:
    • In cases where the complaint cannot be made in writing, the Chairperson or any committee member will provide reasonable assistance to the person to facilitate the submission of the complaint in writing.
    • Alternatively, the complainant can email the complaint to the college email address:  grievance@mamcet.com.
  3. Investigation Process:
    • The committee members thoroughly investigate the cases brought to their attention.
    • They take appropriate action based on the cases, considering any necessary documents or proof provided.
  4. Assurance of Grievance Resolution:
    • The committee ensures that the grievance has been properly addressed and redressed within the stipulated time limit.
    • Adequate measures are taken to rectify the situation and prevent further occurrences.
PUNISHMENT FOR SEXUAL HARASSMENT

Anyone found guilty of sexual harassment shall be punished in accordance with the service rules of the Technical Institution, if the offender is an employee.

Where the respondent is a student, depending upon the severity of the offence, the Technical Institution may—

  1. Withhold privileges of the student such as access to the library, auditoria, halls of residence, transportation, scholarship, allowances and identity card
  2. Suspend or restrict entry into the campus for a specific period
  3. Expel and strike off name from the rolls of the institution, including denial of readmission, if the offence so warrants
  4. Award reformative punishments like mandatory counselling and/or performance of community services
