MAMCET - National Service Scheme

MAMCET has an NSS unit functioning with an NSS program officer at the College. National Service Scheme has two types of programme.

  1. Regular activities
  2. Special Camping Programme

Those who have enrolled as NSS Volunteers are expected to work in the scheme for a period of two years and also participate in Special Camp which has Seven days duration for which Certificate will be provided from the University of Madras.

Objectives

  • To improve the personality of students through community service
  • Motivate the students to participate in Health awareness and Blood Donation Camps
  • Clean and Green activities and Awareness on Environment Protection
  • To inculcate the spirit of volunteerism in students
  • To render their possible service to the grievances of the community
  • To expose students to the hidden social problems and enable them to address the issues.

A blood donation camp was organized by the National Service Scheme (NSS) and Youth Red Cross at our college on 14th March 2025, starting at 10:00 AM. The event was a great success, with 120 students volunteering to donate blood.

The program began with a warm welcome by Dr.S.Rajasekaran, Dean, MASTeR Group of Institution , who addressed the gathering and emphasized the importance of such social initiatives. Dr.X.Susan Christina, Principal , M.A.M.CET  also attended the event and felicitated the program, acknowledging the significant contribution of the volunteers.

The camp was headed by Dr. L. Aravinth, MD, IHBT, Assistant Professor, Department of Transfusion Medicine at Trichy SRM Medical College Hospital and Research Centre, who guided the proceedings and ensured the smooth operation of the event.

At the end of the event, our NSS Programme Officer Mr.S.Vijayakumar delivered the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to all the volunteers, staff, and medical professionals involved in the camp.

Overall, the camp was a success and highlighted the spirit of community service and the importance of blood donation.

PROGRAMME: Campus Cleaning Day
Organized by: NSS.

The NSS unit of MAMCET, in collaboration with the Inner Wheel Club of Trichy Rockfort, organized an insightful awareness training session on Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) on October 25, 2024  at Newton Hall. This vital emergency procedure can play a crucial role in saving lives when someone’s breathing or heartbeat has stopped. The motto of the training, “CPR in Action: Learn to Save a Life,” underscored the importance of equipping individuals with the knowledge and skills to respond effectively in critical situations.

The event commenced with a warm welcome by Dr.B.Muruganandham, Registrar, MASTeR group of Institutions who expressed gratitude to all the participants for their presence and highlighted the significance of learning CPR. Mrs. Fathima Bathool Maluk, the Secretary and CEO of MASTeR Group of Institutions, presided over the function and shared her insights on the importance of community engagement in health and safety initiatives. Dr. X. Susan Christina, the Principal of MAMCET, felicitated the event, emphasizing the necessity of such training programs in enhancing public awareness and preparedness for emergencies. The highlight of the session was the presence of Ms.Vanitha, Deputy Nursing Superintendent, KMC Hospital, Trichy, the esteemed chief guest, who delivered an informative training session on Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation techniques. Participants engaged in hands-on practice, learning the vital steps involved in administering CPR and understanding its life-saving potential.

To conclude the event, Mr. S. Vijayakumar, Assistant Professor of Physics and NSS Program Officer, proposed the vote of thanks, acknowledging the efforts of everyone involved in organizing the training and encouraging participants to spread the knowledge they gained to others in their communities.

This collaborative effort between the NSS unit and the Inner Wheel Club not only aimed to enhance awareness about CPR but also fostered a sense of responsibility among individuals to act confidently in emergencies, ultimately contributing to a safer society.

PROGRAMME: Free Medical Eye Camp

In M.A.M College of Engineering and Technology, Siruganur,   NSS organised “Mindful Moves and Powerful Peace” an awareness programme on Yoga was conducted on 21.06.2025 by 7.30AM in view of International Yoga Day.

Dr.S.Saivaraju, Head, Science and Humanities delivered the welcome address highlighting the importance of Yoga in day to day life. Dr. X. Susan Christina, Principal, MAMCET presided over the programme. The Principal in the special address insisted the importance of practicing yoga in this technical era where there is no way to escape from the clutches of falling ill.

Dr.S.Rajasekaran, Dean, MASTeR GI and Dr.B.Muruganantham, Registrar, MASTeR GI offered felicitations. Mr R.Raama Subramanian, Heartfulness Trainer  handled the session and gave training for nearly 100 volunteers which included all the basic yoga exercises for leading a happy and peaceful life style. Students participated enthusiastically and cleared all their doubts from the Yoga Trainer.

 In M.A.M College of Engineering and Technology, Siruganur  National Service Scheme(NSS)  and Youth Red Cross(YRC)  of First Year Classes of B.E/B.TECH Programmes organized World Environment Day on 05.06 2025 at Open Auditorium

        N.Mahalakshmi AP /Chemistry ,MAMCET  welcomed the gathering . Dr X. Susan Christina Principal, MAMCET presided over the event. She focused on the importance of Save Environment and the students were also highly motivated by the valuable Presidential Address of the Principal. Dr S. Muruganantham, Registrar, MASTeR GI ,Dr. S. Rajasekaran,  Dean, MASTeR GI and Dr S.Saivaraju , Head /S&H were  also present. Both the faculty and students took oath on saving the environment. Previously a poster making, workshop on alternatives to single use plastic was conducted on 05/06/2025 Awareness on the usage of Environmental friendly things like jute bags, cloth bags were also given. Students holded charts carrying awareness towards Environmental Safety.  More than 100 Saplings were planted by the Principal, the Registrar and the Dean of MASTeR GI, Head S&H,   faculty members of the Department of Science and Humanities and first year students. On the whole the programme was successful. Finally,     Mr.S.Vijayakumar , N.S.S  Coordinator proposed the vote of thanks.
